My name is Oluwadamilola Ipaye but people call me Dammi and I like to play the game “Rules of Survival” on my phone. The game is about you playing against up to 120 other players in a match of survival. You can invite other people that you want to be on your team or as a partner.  I found out about this game from a friend and downloaded it from an App store.

The graphics of the game run smoothly and you can interact with the environment by entering houses and driving cars. The game begins with you on an airplane that takes you, along with other players, and drops you onto a desert island. Your character is unequipped but gear and weapon drops occur at random times during play. Some starting equipment is on the ground and these items can be picked up.

The controls can be customized to suit your play style, including camera sensitivity. In “Rules of Survival,” the menus are loaded with sliders for everything which is good because sometimes people find the default one to be a little awkward. I recommend digging into the “Advanced” menu and turning on “Double Tap” to turn around.  The movement is always a little awkward in the games with virtual controls where you can’t just rapidly move your hand, and being able to double tap the joystick and run the other way is fantastically useful as often the best way to win a match isn’t getting involved in a firefight at all because in the rule of survivor you can be easily killed. Before trying to actually play competitively, just practice jumping out of the airplane and seeing how far your parachute can take you to get an idea of how far you can stray from the planes. Sometimes players like to wait until the last second to pull their parachutes and will reach the ground (and any loot).

There are two distinct strategies you can take as you drop, and they’re both equally valid. Sometimes players can either choose to jump out and hope to land in the center of the map and get in firefights early or you can look for a place as far away as possible and work your way back towards the action. The former can be good, as killing and looting players is a great way to quickly gear up. However, I tend to prefer the more methodical approach of taking my time and moving slowly in the game.  You can bring up the map by tapping the “mini map,” and look for a group of buildings you think you can make it to, and tap to place a marker and then keep an eye on the HUD at the top of your screen to guide you to that point. With any luck, you’ll be the only player that decides to drop there and you’ll have houses full of loots.

The first things I do in the game is to look for a backpack and a helmet. Getting a backpack is a significant increase to your carrying capacity which determines how much ammo and everything else you can haul. From there, an ideal load-out is the one weapon that’s good at a closing distance like a shotgun or a sub machine gun and any sort of rifle that can have an optic equipped. Scopes are unbelievably powerful in “Rules of Survival,” as you will have the potential to take out other players from a great distance. The drawback is that a scoped rifle isn’t great for close quarters combat.

If fast-paced action is your style, give this game a try. It is free to download.
